The Little Red Hen
Once there was a little red hen. She lived on a farm with a lazy dog, a sleepy cat, and a noisy duck. One day, the little red hen found some grains of wheat. "Who will help me plant this wheat?" she asked. "Not I!" said the dog. "Not I!" said the cat. "Not I!" said the duck. So, the little red hen planted the wheat all by herself.
When the wheat grew tall, she asked, "Who will help me cut this wheat?" "Not I!" said the dog. "Not I!" said the cat. "Not I!" said the duck. So, the little red hen cut the wheat all by herself. Then she asked, "Who will help me take this wheat to the mill?" "Not I!" said the dog. "Not I!" said the cat. "Not I!" said the duck. So, the little red hen took the wheat to the mill all by herself. She brought back flour.
Then she asked, "Who will help me bake a cake with this flour?" "Not I!" said the dog. "Not I!" said the cat. "Not I!" said the duck. So, the little red hen baked the cake all by herself. When the cake was ready, she asked, "Who will help me eat this delicious cake?" "I will!" said the dog. "I will!" said the cat. "I will!" said the duck. "No!" said the little red hen.
