Once upon a time, there was a Little Red Hen who lived on a farm. She found a grain of wheat. "Who will help me plant this wheat?" she asked. The Pig, the Cat, and the Dog all said, "Not I!" So the Little Red Hen planted it herself. Soon, the wheat grew tall. "Who will help me cut the wheat?" she asked. Again, the Pig, the Cat, and the Dog all said, "Not I!" So the Little Red Hen cut it herself. Then she asked, "Who will help me take the wheat to the mill?" The animals said, "Not I!" So she took it herself. Then she asked, "Who will help me bake the bread?" The animals said, "Not I!" So she baked it herself. When the bread was ready, she asked, "Who will help me eat this delicious bread?" This time, the Pig, the Cat, and the Dog all said, "I will!" But the Little Red Hen said, "No! I will eat it myself!" And she did.
