Read each section carefully and follow the instructions to complete the exercises on intensive pronouns.
Intensive pronouns are used to emphasize a preceding noun or pronoun. They always end in -self or -selves. Unlike reflexive pronouns, intensive pronouns are not essential to the meaning of the sentence; if you remove an intensive pronoun, the sentence still makes sense.
Examples: - I myself baked the entire cake. - The students themselves organized the fundraiser.
1. Which of the following sentences uses an intensive pronoun correctly?
She bought herself a new book.
The principal himself addressed the assembly.
They injured themselves during the game.
He saw himself in the mirror.
Complete each sentence with an appropriate intensive pronoun.
1. The queen visited the new museum.
2. We decided to take the challenging route.
3. Did you witness the entire event?
4. The cat, quite proud, groomed after the meal.
Read the following sentences. Underline the intensive pronoun if one is present. If there isn't one, write 'None'. Then, explain why the pronoun is intensive or why there is no intensive pronoun.
1. The author himself signed copies of his latest novel.
2. She taught herself how to play the guitar.
3. We built the treehouse ourselves.
Determine whether the following statements about intensive pronouns are True or False.
1. Intensive pronouns are essential parts of the sentence.
True
False
2. All pronouns ending in -self or -selves are intensive pronouns.

False
Write a short paragraph (5-7 sentences) about a time you or someone you know accomplished something significant without much help. Be sure to include at least two intensive pronouns in your paragraph. Underline each intensive pronoun you use.
