A predicate nominative (also called a predicate noun or predicate pronoun) is a noun or pronoun that follows a linking verb and renames or identifies the subject of the sentence. Linking verbs include forms of 'to be' (is, am, are, was, were, been, being) and verbs related to the senses or states of being (appear, become, feel, grow, look, remain, seem, smell, sound, taste, turn). The predicate nominative always has the same case as the subject (nominative case).
