Misplaced and dangling modifiers are common grammatical errors that can obscure the meaning of a sentence. A **misplaced modifier** is a word, phrase, or clause that is separated from the word it modifies, leading to confusion. A **dangling modifier** is a word or phrase that modifies a word not clearly stated in the sentence, often appearing at the beginning of a sentence.

Example of a Misplaced Modifier: 'He rode the horse wearing a helmet.' (Who is wearing the helmet, the horse or he?) Corrected: 'Wearing a helmet, he rode the horse.'

Example of a Dangling Modifier: 'Walking to the store, the sky grew dark.' (Who is walking to the store? The sky isn't.) Corrected: 'Walking to the store, I noticed the sky grew dark.'
