The subject of a sentence is who or what the sentence is about. It is usually a noun or a pronoun. The subject does the action in the sentence.

Example: The dog barks loudly. (The dog is the subject.)

The object of a sentence is who or what receives the action of the verb. It is also usually a noun or a pronoun.

Example: The dog chased the ball. (The ball is the object. It receives the action of 'chased'.)
