The Little Red Hen
Once upon a time, there was a Little Red Hen who lived on a farm. She found a grain of wheat. "Who will help me plant this wheat?" she asked. The Pig, the Cat, and the Duck all said, "Not I!" So the Little Red Hen planted the wheat all by herself. When the wheat grew tall, she asked, "Who will help me cut this wheat?" Again, the Pig, the Cat, and the Duck said, "Not I!" So the Little Red Hen cut the wheat all by herself. Then she asked, "Who will help me take this wheat to the mill?" The animals said, "Not I!" So she took it to the mill all by herself. "Who will help me bake the bread?" she asked when the flour was ready. "Not I!" they all said. So the Little Red Hen baked the bread all by herself. When the bread was ready, she asked, "Who will help me eat this bread?" "I will!" shouted the Pig, the Cat, and the Duck. But the Little Red Hen said, "No! I will eat it all by myself!" And she did.
