The Little Red Hen

Once there was a Little Red Hen. She found a grain of wheat. "Who will help me plant this wheat?" she asked. The Pig said, "Not I." The Cat said, "Not I." The Dog said, "Not I." So the Little Red Hen planted the wheat all by herself.

Soon the wheat grew tall. "Who will help me cut this wheat?" she asked. "Not I," said the Pig. "Not I," said the Cat. "Not I," said the Dog. So the Little Red Hen cut the wheat all by herself.

Then it was time to take the wheat to the mill. "Who will help me take this wheat to the mill?" she asked. Again, Pig, Cat, and Dog all said, "Not I." So she took it to the mill by herself. She baked a delicious loaf of bread.

"Who will help me eat this bread?" she asked. "I will!" said the Pig. "I will!" said the Cat. "I will!" said the Dog. But the Little Red Hen said, "No! I will eat it myself!" And she did.
