The Little Red Hen
Once upon a time, there was a Little Red Hen who lived on a farm with a lazy dog, a sleepy cat, and a noisy duck. One day, the Little Red Hen found some grains of wheat. "Who will help me plant this wheat?" she asked. "Not I," barked the dog. "Not I," purred the cat. "Not I," quacked the duck. So, the Little Red Hen planted the wheat all by herself.
Soon, the wheat grew tall and golden. "Who will help me cut this wheat?" she asked. "Not I," barked the dog. "Not I," purred the cat. "Not I," quacked the duck. So, the Little Red Hen cut the wheat all by herself. Then she asked, "Who will help me take this wheat to the mill to be ground into flour?" Again, the dog, cat, and duck all said, "Not I." So, the Little Red Hen took the wheat to the mill and brought back the flour all by herself.
"Now, who will help me bake a cake with this flour?" she asked. "Not I," barked the dog. "Not I," purred the cat. "Not I," quacked the duck. So, the Little Red Hen baked the cake all by herself. When the cake was ready, it smelled delicious! "Who will help me eat this cake?" she asked. "I will!" barked the dog. "I will!" purred the cat. "I will!" quacked the duck. But the Little Red Hen said, "No! I will eat it myself," and she did!
