Bessie Coleman was an amazing woman who loved airplanes! She was born in Texas in 1892. When she grew up, she wanted to fly planes, but it was hard for an African American woman to become a pilot in America. She didn't give up! Bessie learned French and moved to France to go to flight school. In 1921, she became the first African American woman to get a pilot's license. When she came back to America, she became famous for flying her plane and doing tricks in the sky. She was called 'Queen Bess'!
