Read each question carefully and follow the instructions. This worksheet will help you practice identifying and understanding the Vowel-Consonant-Vowel (VCV) pattern in words.

What is the VCV Pattern?

The Vowel-Consonant-Vowel (VCV) pattern helps us understand how to pronounce words. When a word has a single consonant between two vowels, we often split the word before the consonant if the first vowel is long, or after the consonant if the first vowel is short. For example, in 'tiger', we split it 'ti-ger' (long 'i'). In 'cabin', we split it 'cab-in' (short 'a').
