The Little Red Hen

Once upon a time, there lived a Little Red Hen on a farm. She found a grain of wheat. "Who will help me plant this wheat?" she asked. The Pig said, "Not I." The Cat said, "Not I." The Dog said, "Not I." So, the Little Red Hen planted it herself.

When the wheat grew tall, she asked, "Who will help me cut this wheat?" The Pig said, "Not I." The Cat said, "Not I." The Dog said, "Not I." So, the Little Red Hen cut it herself.

Then she asked, "Who will help me take this wheat to the mill to be ground into flour?" The Pig said, "Not I." The Cat said, "Not I." The Dog said, "Not I." So, the Little Red Hen took it to the mill herself.

When the flour was ready, she asked, "Who will help me bake this bread?" The Pig said, "Not I." The Cat said, "Not I." The Dog said, "Not I." So, the Little Red Hen baked the bread herself.

Finally, she asked, "Who will help me eat this delicious bread?" The Pig said, "I will!" The Cat said, "I will!" The Dog said, "I will!" But the Little Red Hen said, "No! I will eat it myself!" And she did.
