Long, long ago, in a land called India, a baby prince was born. His name was Siddhartha Gautama. His father was a king, and Siddhartha lived in a beautiful palace with everything he could ever want. He had many toys, delicious food, and wonderful clothes. The king wanted to protect Siddhartha from all sadness and suffering in the world.
One day, when Siddhartha was a grown man, he left his palace and saw some things he had never seen before. He saw an old man, a sick man, and a dead man. He also saw a peaceful monk. These sights made Siddhartha very sad. He wondered why there was so much suffering in the world and how people could be truly happy.
Siddhartha decided to leave his rich life in the palace to find the answer. He traveled for many years, learning from different teachers and meditating. Finally, one day, while meditating under a Bodhi tree, he found what he was looking for. He understood how to be free from suffering and find true peace. From that day on, he was called the Buddha, which means 'the enlightened one.' He spent the rest of his life teaching others what he had learned.
