The Wonderful Picnic
Lily woke up early on Saturday morning, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Today was the day for the annual family picnic at Willow Creek Park! Her mom had packed a basket full of delicious treats: crispy apple slices, juicy orange wedges, and her favorite peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Her dad brought a big, bright blue kite that he promised to fly if the wind was just right. When they arrived at the park, the sun was shining, and a gentle breeze rustled the leaves in the tall oak trees. Lily spotted her cousins, Tom and Sarah, already playing near the swings. They waved excitedly. After spreading out their checkered blanket, everyone helped unpack the food. Lily giggled as a tiny squirrel bravely tried to snatch a crumb from the edge of the blanket. After lunch, Lily and her dad went to an open field to fly the kite. It soared high into the sky, dancing with the clouds. Tom and Sarah joined them, chasing after it when it dipped low. It was a perfect day, filled with laughter, good food, and family fun. As the sun began to set, they packed up, tired but happy, already looking forward to next year's picnic.
