The Little Red Hen
Once upon a time, a Little Red Hen found a grain of wheat. She asked her friends, the Pig, the Cat, and the Duck, for help planting it. "Not I," said the Pig. "Not I," said the Cat. "Not I," said the Duck. So, the Little Red Hen planted it herself.
When the wheat grew tall, she asked for help harvesting it. Again, her friends refused. "Not I," said the Pig. "Not I," said the Cat. "Not I," said the Duck. So, the Little Red Hen harvested it herself.
Next, she asked for help taking the wheat to the mill to be ground into flour. Her friends once again said no. "Not I," said the Pig. "Not I," said the Cat. "Not I," said the Duck. So, the Little Red Hen took it to the mill herself. She then asked for help baking the bread. "Not I," said the Pig. "Not I," said the Cat. "Not I," said the Duck. So, the Little Red Hen baked the bread herself.
Finally, when the delicious smell of fresh bread filled the air, the Little Red Hen asked, "Who will help me eat this bread?" "I will!" said the Pig. "I will!" said the Cat. "I will!" said the Duck. But the Little Red Hen said, "No! I planted it, I harvested it, I took it to the mill, and I baked it. So I will eat it myself!" And she did.
