The Mystery of the Missing Toy

Lily loved her stuffed rabbit, Hoppy, more than anything. Hoppy had soft, floppy ears and a little pink nose. Every night, Hoppy slept right beside Lily in her bed. One sunny morning, Lily woke up and reached for Hoppy, but her hand found only an empty space. Hoppy was gone! Lily’s eyes darted around her room. She checked under her pillow, inside her toy box, and even behind the curtains. No Hoppy. A worried frown creased her forehead. "Where could he be?" she whispered. She decided to retrace her steps from the night before. First, she remembered playing with Hoppy in the living room. Then, she brought him to the kitchen for a pretend tea party. Finally, she carried him upstairs to her bedroom. Could he have fallen out of her arms on the stairs?
