All About Bees

Bees are amazing insects that play a very important role in our world. They are known for making honey, but their biggest job is called pollination. Pollination is how plants make new seeds. Bees fly from flower to flower, collecting nectar and pollen. As they do this, they carry tiny grains of pollen from one flower to another, helping the plants to grow fruits and vegetables.

Types of Bees

There are over 20,000 different kinds of bees! The most well-known are honey bees and bumblebees. Honey bees live in large groups called colonies and build hives. Bumblebees are bigger and rounder, with fuzzy bodies. They often live in smaller groups underground.

The Bee's Body

A bee's body has three main parts: the head, the thorax, and the abdomen. On their heads, they have two antennae and two large eyes. Their legs and wings are attached to the thorax. The abdomen contains their stomach and, for some bees, a stinger.
