Read the passage below about Flat Stanley, then answer the questions that follow.

One night, a large bulletin board fell on Stanley Lambchop while he was asleep in his bed. When his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lambchop, finally lifted the board off him, they discovered something very unusual. Stanley was only half an inch thick! He was completely flat. Stanley was still alive and well, just very, very flat.

Being flat had its advantages. Stanley could slip under doors without opening them. His mother could roll him up and carry him in her purse when they went out. One day, Stanley even received a letter from his friend in California. The letter said that his friend missed him and invited Stanley to visit. Stanley's father had a wonderful idea: they could put Stanley in an envelope and mail him to California! It would be much cheaper than a train or plane ticket.

So, Stanley was carefully folded and placed in a large envelope. His mother wrote 'Do Not Bend' on the front. He was mailed to California and had a grand adventure with his friend, seeing all sorts of sights. Eventually, Stanley began to miss his family and wished he could be three-dimensional again. His brother, Arthur, tried many things to make Stanley round again, but nothing seemed to work. Finally, Arthur came up with a clever plan involving a bicycle pump. After much effort, Stanley was finally his normal, round self again!
