The 'Change Y to I' Rule helps us spell words correctly when we add a suffix. When a word ends in a consonant followed by 'y', we usually change the 'y' to 'i' before adding a suffix like -es, -ed, or -er. For example, 'party' becomes 'parties'. If a word ends in a vowel followed by 'y', we just add the suffix without changing the 'y'. For example, 'play' becomes 'plays'.
