What are Consonant Blends?

A consonant blend is when two or more consonants are put together, and each consonant sound can still be heard. For example, in the word 'blush', you can hear both the /b/ sound and the /l/ sound. Common blends include 'bl', 'cl', 'dr', 'fr', 'gr', 'pl', 'sn', 'sp', 'st', 'tr', 'scr', 'spl', and 'str'.
