Why Take Notes?
Taking notes is a very important skill for students. When you take notes, you are writing down the most important ideas from what you are reading or hearing. This helps you remember information better. It also makes it easier to study for tests and complete assignments. Good notes aren't just copying everything. They are about picking out the main points and writing them in your own words, or using shorter phrases and symbols. For example, instead of writing 'The sun is a star that gives us light and heat,' you could write 'Sun = star, gives light + heat.' This saves time and helps your brain focus on what's truly important.

9. Read the short paragraph below about 'The Water Cycle.' As you read, take notes in the space provided. Remember to only write down the most important ideas using short phrases or symbols.
The Water Cycle is how water moves all around our planet. It starts with evaporation, where the sun heats water in oceans, lakes, and rivers, turning it into vapor that rises into the air. Next, condensation happens when the water vapor gets cold in the sky and forms clouds. Then, precipitation is when the clouds get too full, and water falls back to Earth as rain, snow, or hail. Finally, collection is when this water gathers in oceans, lakes, or on land, and the cycle starts all over again.
