The Mystery of the Missing Lunchbox
Leo carefully packed his favorite superhero lunchbox with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, apple slices, and a juice box. It was the first day of fifth grade, and he was excited to meet his new teacher, Mrs. Davis. He placed the lunchbox on the kitchen counter, ready to grab it before heading out the door. As he tied his shoes, his little sister, Mia, zoomed past him, giggling. 'Morning, slowpoke!' she called, snatching his superhero action figure from the table.
At school, Leo's stomach rumbled during math class. He couldn't wait for lunch! But when the bell finally rang, and he opened his backpack, his heart sank. The lunchbox was gone! He frantically searched through his bag, then under his desk, and even checked the lost and found. Mrs. Davis noticed his distress and asked what was wrong. 'My lunchbox is missing!' Leo exclaimed, tears welling in his eyes. Mrs. Davis helped him search, but they couldn't find it anywhere. Leo felt a pang of hunger and disappointment.
Just as Leo was about to give up hope and buy a school lunch, the office intercom crackled. 'Paging Leo Miller. Your sister Mia is in the front office with your lunchbox.' Leo's eyes widened. He rushed to the office, where Mia stood sheepishly, holding his superhero lunchbox. 'I thought it was mine,' she mumbled, looking at her feet. 'It looks just like my doll's lunchbox!' Leo laughed, relieved. He thanked Mia, grabbed his lunch, and enjoyed his sandwich, happy that the mystery was solved and his first day wasn't completely ruined.
