However, he had a rival in Brom Bones, a strong and boisterous young man who was the favorite of the village. One autumn evening, Ichabod attended a lively party at the Van Tassel farm. He danced with Katrina, told stories, and feasted on the delicious food. The Horseman hurled his severed head at Ichabod, knocking him from his saddle.
