The Mystery of the Missing Lunchbox
Maya skipped into the school cafeteria, her stomach rumbling. It was pizza day, her favorite! She reached for her bright pink lunchbox, but it wasn't there. Panic began to bubble. Had she left it at home? No, she distinctly remembered putting it in her backpack. Her friend, Sam, noticed her distress. “What’s wrong, Maya?” he asked. “My lunchbox is gone!” she wailed. Sam, a budding detective, immediately offered to help. They retraced Maya’s steps, checking her classroom, the library, and even the playground. Just as Maya was about to give up hope, they saw a flash of pink near the principal’s office. There, sitting on a bench, was her lunchbox! Next to it was Mr. Harrison, the school janitor, looking a little embarrassed. “Oh, Maya!” he chuckled. “I found this abandoned in the hallway and brought it here for safekeeping. I was just about to call your classroom.” Maya laughed with relief, her hunger returning with full force. She thanked Mr. Harrison and Sam, and finally enjoyed her pizza.
