The Whispering Woods
Lily loved visiting her grandmother’s house, especially because it bordered the mysterious Whispering Woods. Grandma always warned her not to go too deep, but today, a shimmering blue butterfly fluttered past Lily’s window and into the trees. Curiosity tugged at her, and before she knew it, Lily was following the butterfly, deeper and deeper into the woods.
The trees grew taller here, their branches intertwining to form a leafy canopy that blocked out most of the sun. Strange, soft sounds echoed around her – a gentle rustling, a faint humming, like dozens of tiny voices. The butterfly landed on a glowing mushroom, its wings pulsing with light. Lily reached out to touch it, but just as her fingers brushed the cap, the mushroom pulsed brighter, and a tiny, musical chime filled the air. Suddenly, the butterfly zipped away, and the woods grew silent once more. Lily realized she was lost.
