What are Vowel Diphthongs?
A vowel diphthong is a sound formed by the combination of two vowels in a single syllable, in which the sound begins as one vowel sound and moves toward another (as in 'coin' or 'loud'). Diphthongs are often called 'gliding vowels' because your mouth glides from one vowel position to another.
