Read each question carefully and follow the instructions. This worksheet will help you practice identifying and understanding predicates in sentences.

Every complete sentence has two main parts: a subject and a predicate. The subject tells who or what the sentence is about, and the predicate tells what the subject does or is. The predicate always contains the verb.

A simple predicate is just the main verb or verb phrase in the sentence. A complete predicate includes the simple predicate and all the words that modify it or complete its meaning.
