Read each question carefully and follow the instructions. This worksheet will help you practice identifying and understanding different text structures.

Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow:

The Impact of Climate Change on Polar Bears Polar bears, majestic predators of the Arctic, face an existential threat from climate change. The primary cause of this crisis is the rapid melting of Arctic sea ice, their essential habitat. As global temperatures rise due to increased greenhouse gas emissions, the extent and thickness of the ice diminish, making it harder for polar bears to hunt seals, their main food source. Fewer hunting opportunities lead to malnutrition and reduced reproductive success. There are several consequences of this habitat loss. Firstly, polar bears are forced to travel longer distances to find food, expending valuable energy. Secondly, the shrinking ice forces them onto land for extended periods, increasing their interactions with humans and often leading to conflict. Finally, the reduction in sea ice affects the entire Arctic ecosystem, disrupting the food chain and impacting other species that polar bears rely on indirectly. To mitigate these effects, international efforts are focused on reducing carbon emissions and developing renewable energy sources. Conservation groups are also working to protect remaining habitats and rescue vulnerable polar bear populations.
