Read the following passage carefully:

The old lighthouse stood stoic against the relentless assault of the sea, its beam a solitary sentinel cutting through the inky blackness. For generations, the light had guided ships safely to shore, a beacon of hope in the storm. But tonight, something was different. The wind howled with an unnatural ferocity, and the waves crashed against the rocks with a hunger that seemed personal. Inside, Elara, the current keeper, huddled by the radio, its static-filled whispers offering no comfort. A rogue wave had struck, plunging the lower levels into darkness and silence. The generator was dead. Panic threatened to overwhelm her, but the thought of the ships still out there, relying on her, spurred her into action. She knew the backup system, a crank-powered mechanism, was temperamental, but it was their only hope. With trembling hands, she began to turn the crank, the rhythmic creak a defiant heartbeat against the chaos outside.

After reading the passage, return to the 'Anticipation Guide Statements' section and complete the 'After Reading' column. Then, choose ONE statement where your perspective changed or was reinforced by the passage. Explain how the passage influenced your final opinion.
