Story: The Little Red Hen

Open Book

The Little Red Hen found a grain of wheat. She asked her friends, 'Who will help me plant this wheat?' The pig, the cat, and the dog all said, 'Not I!' So, the Little Red Hen planted the wheat all by herself. When the wheat grew tall, she asked, 'Who will help me cut this wheat?' Again, her friends said, 'Not I!' The Little Red Hen cut the wheat. Then she asked, 'Who will help me take this wheat to the mill?' Her friends said, 'Not I!' So the Little Red Hen took the wheat to the mill and had it ground into flour. When she asked, 'Who will help me bake the bread?' her friends said, 'Not I!' The Little Red Hen baked the bread all by herself. Finally, she asked, 'Who will help me eat this bread?' This time, her friends all said, 'I will!' But the Little Red Hen said, 'No! I will eat it myself!' And she did.
